Fall Lawn Services and Starting Prices

Every Wichita lawn is different. Final pricing depends on lawn size, access, soil condition and the amount of preparation needed.

Core Aeration

Starting at $150

Tall Fescue Overseeding

Priced by lawn size

Places fresh tall fescue seed across thin or bare areas to improve lawn density. Starter fertilizer is required with grass seed.

Dethatching

Priced by lawn size

Removes excessive thatch that can prevent water, nutrients and seed from reaching the soil.

Starter Fertilizer

Priced by lawn size

Required with overseeding to provide nutrients that support early seedling and root development.

Optional Additions That Can Improve Results

Soil Amendment

Helps improve the growing environment in compacted or tired soil so water and nutrients can work more effectively.

Moisture Manager

Helps soil use available moisture more effectively, which can support more consistent conditions while new grass establishes.

These upgrades are optional. We can recommend them based on your lawn, soil and watering conditions.

Why Wichita Lawns Benefit From Aeration and Overseeding

  • Core aeration relieves compaction common in clay-heavy soil.
  • Overseeding helps thicken thin turf and fill bare areas after summer stress.
  • Fresh tall fescue can improve lawn density before the next hot Kansas summer.
  • Better seed-to-soil contact gives new grass a stronger opportunity to establish.
  • A denser lawn can compete more effectively with weeds.

What to Expect

We evaluate the lawn, recommend the right combination of aeration, dethatching and overseeding, and price the work according to the property. After service, new seed needs consistent moisture. We will explain the watering and mowing steps for your specific lawn.

Aeration and Overseeding FAQs

When is the best time to overseed tall fescue in Wichita?

Early fall is generally the strongest window because soil remains warm while air temperatures become more favorable for cool-season grass establishment.

Can I purchase aeration without overseeding?

Yes. Aeration, overseeding and dethatching are available as separate services. We can also combine them when the lawn would benefit from more complete renovation.

Is starter fertilizer required?

Yes. Wichita Lawn Care requires starter fertilizer with grass seed to support early growth and root development.

How much does overseeding cost?

Overseeding is priced according to lawn size and site conditions. Request a quote for exact pricing.

Are soil amendment and moisture manager required?

No. Both are optional additions that may improve growing conditions and the likelihood of successful establishment.

How soon can I mow after overseeding?

Mow when most new seedlings reach about 3 inches tall. For the first mowing, use a sharp blade and set the mower near 2 inches. Mow only when the soil is firm enough that the mower will not rut the lawn or pull young seedlings, and never remove more than one-third of the grass height at one time. Growth rate varies with temperature, watering and sunlight, so use grass height rather than a fixed number of days.

Who is responsible for watering after Wichita Lawn Care plants the seed?

Wichita Lawn Care prepares the lawn and plants the seed. After installation, the customer is responsible for watering and ongoing care needed for germination and establishment. Keep the upper layer of soil consistently moist with light watering, often two to three times per day during warm, dry or windy weather. Avoid puddles and runoff. After most seed has germinated, gradually water less often and more deeply. Weather, irrigation coverage and customer care affect results, so seed installation cannot guarantee germination or a fully established lawn.
